With the primary goal of ensuring trade flows smoothly and predictably, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) was established. The goal was to be realised through the administration of trade agreements that would lower tariffs and other barriers. The WTO deemed it important to establish the ground rules for its multilateral trading system. These foundational principles include, but are not limited to, non-discrimination principle.
